Spread The Happy
SpreadTheHappy is a movement. :) Its point is exactly its title… to spread happiness. This last month was a test drive to see how many people would be effected by this.
Now before I continue let me tell you, one of the many secrets of this project. It is to remain anonymous, you can’t tell anyone that your posting sticky notes all over the place or leaving signs where people would never expect… you have to make sure no one knows who they’re from because that makes it even more perfect.
Now with that said I should probably also tell you that you can give someone a sticky note and tell them to post it outside their next class or where ever they are going. And strangely most people I’ve done that to (random or a friend) have actually done it with out questioning why.
SpreadTheHappy is one of the easiest ways to make people smile. You won’t believe how many of my friends have been having awful mornings, then come running up to me at lunch saying how they saw this random note that instantly put them in a good mood (little do they realize it was actually me) All you have to do is have some sticky notes and a couple sharpies… its that simple! :)
And yes i do realize that there are many other project that sound really similar but i like to believe SpreadTheHappy has its own special twist… I’ve noticed one similarity between other projects they only target certain groups (females, males, religious, etc.) SpreadTheHappy targets all those groups. I am also not saying that certain groups are better than others (i will be promoting other projects similar to us) I’m saying you shouldn’t be biased to who can be happy.
I came up with the idea a long time ago but I’ve never acted on it. It was only till recently (after I’ve had my own troubles and helped my friends through their own) that I started the movement… I will always remeber the frist morning of this movement perfectly….
I was babysitting my baby cousin and we went out to eat. While she playing on the play ground I saw someone who inspired me. This sweet old lady and her husband were coming inside to eat… it was visible that the woman was in pain but she still smiled her beautiful smile. Her husband sat her down at a table then left to the counter to order their meal… when he left her smile faded. Now little did I know my cousin was watching this moment too. She asked me ‘why she was so sad’ I told her ‘I don’t know’ and then I remembered my idea from so long ago… my cousin said she wanted to make her smile like she was before so I grabbed a napkin and wrote on it “you inspire me like no one else has ever done before” then we ran to catch her husband before he left the counter with their food. my cousin handed the napkin to him and asked him if he would give it to his wife. He smiled and as he sat down he gave it to her… her smile will forever be in my memory :)
I Hope that moment will inspire other like it has me… Now go out there and SpreadTheHappy! :)
